The Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital began as a 50-bed facility in 1970 and was expanded to 500 beds in 1987. Casualty first aired throughout the day in 1987, and it became operational around the clock in April 1998. The trauma block was completed in 2008, increasing the bed strength to 640; emergency services were relocated to this new block, which included a larger emergency department and wards. This hospital offers specialised services to the inhabitants of West Delhi while also teaching postgraduate and undergraduate medical students and paramedics.
