In a major development, the TDP-led coalition government has focused its attention on Nellore district by appointing four prominent leaders to nominated posts under the second phase. The list was released on Saturday.
This announcement increases the number of TDP representatives from Nellore district to four. Earlier, Shaik Abdul Aziz was appointed as the State Wakf Board Chairman in the first phase.
Four senior leaders were appointed in the second phase.
Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, a senior TDP leader and state general secretary, has been appointed as the Chairman of Nellore Urban Development Authority. Known for his close association with Hindupur MLA and actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, Kotamreddy has been a vocal critic of the YSRCP. He previously contested as an MLA candidate from Nellore Rural under the Praja Rajyam Party banner in 2009 but did not succeed.
Polamreddy Dinesh Reddy will serve as the chairman of AP Environment Management Corporation Limited. The son of former Kovur TDP MLA Polamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy, Dinesh is recognized for his allegiance to Industries Minister Nara Lokesh. Currently the TDP in-charge for Kovur constituency, he is noted for allegedly stepping aside to allow Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy to contest in the 2024 elections.
Sannapureddy Suresh Reddy is appointed as the APSRTC Zonal Chairman. The senior BJP leader from the TP Guduru mandal in Sarvepalli constituency has an extensive political background, as he has served as a three-time BJP district president and unified Andhra Pradesh State secretary. Suresh Reddy had contested unsuccessfully as an MLA candidate from Nellore Rural in 2014 and as an MP candidate from Nellore in 2019. At present, he is working as the national vice president of BJP Kisan Morcha.
Anam Venkataramana Reddy is appointed as the Chairman of AP State Aqua Culture Development Authority (ACDA).
Despite their critical role in ensuring the TDP’s victory in Nellore district during the 2024 elections, Jana Sena Party (JSP) leaders have not been allocated any nominated posts in either of the two phases. JSP leaders remain optimistic, anticipating recognition in the upcoming third list.
This allocation of posts showcases the strategy for consolidating influence in Nellore district, while at the same time, the contributions of its senior leaders and key allies are factored in.
