HIGHLIGHTS

David Vonderhaar has formally left Treyarch, the Call of Duty development team, after working there for almost 20 years.
Black Ops: Cold War and Warzone, two highly regarded Call of Duty games, both featured multiplayer systems created by Vonderhaar.
Even though Vonderhaar won't be completely quitting the video game industry, Treyarch will need to find someone to take over for him because his next move is now unknown.

Veteran Treyarch employee David Vonderhaar has formally left the Call of Duty development team after nearly 19 years there. Since 2004, when Call of Duty 2: Big Red One for the PS2 released, the formerly employed person had served as the studio's director of studio design. Since that time, Vonderhaar has been in charge of creating the multiplayer systems for a number of Call of Duty games, some of which have received some of the franchise's highest praise from critics. Then, and up until his departure, he served as the Black Ops franchise's Studio Design Director.

Call of Duty: Warzone, which Treyarch helped Infinity Ward with its production and content, and 2020's Black Ops: Cold War are two of Vonderhaar's recent contributions to the franchise. Although the previous Studio head was in charge of some of the franchise's most well-known elements, he left the company after over 20 years.

In a heartfelt statement to both the Call of Duty community and his website fans, Vonderhaar shared this announcement on his Linked page. He expressed gratitude to the enthusiastic community for their excitement, which he observed fed the studio's developers. He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to communicate with many people both in person and online and thanked those who welcomed him on board and placed their trust in him to manage the franchise.
