No Aadhaar Card Or Forms Required For Swapping 2,000 Currency Notes, Says Punjab National Bank (PNB) Employees

According to Punjab National Bank (PNB) employees speaking to news agency ANI on Tuesday, there is no requirement to submit any official verified papers (OVD), including an Aadhaar card, or fill out any forms in order to swap 2,000 currency notes at any of the bank's branches.

The most recent letter follows the online distribution of outdated bank documents asking depositors for more information in order to swap 2,000 banknotes.

Earlier, the State Bank of India (SBI) rejected rumours that swapping 2,000 banknotes required completing any forms or slips, adding that exchanging notes "without obtaining any requisition slip" was acceptable.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of 2,000 currency notes from circulation as part of its "clean note policy." Today is the start of the swapping procedure for these high-value notes across all banks. The central bank claims that no requisition slip or identity documentation is required to exchange currency notes; nonetheless, few institutions have made this requirement.
