Russian Missile and Drone Strikes Resume in Ukraine: Recent Attacks on Dnipro

Russian missile and drone strikes have resumed this month after an almost two-month hiatus due to the threat of a Ukrainian counteroffensive. Officials said early on Monday that Russia had begun a nocturnal air strike on the city of Dnipro in southeast Ukraine, and the media had reported a number of explosions.

Although it was unclear at first whether the explosions were caused by air defence systems taking out their targets or Russian missiles or drones striking their objectives, the governor of the Dnipropetrovsk area, whose administrative centre is Dnipro, commended the defenders.

"The defence troops saved us from the onslaught, thank goodness. Serhiy Lysak, the governor, wrote on his Telegram messaging service that further information will be revealed in due course and referred to Russian soldiers as "terrorists."

About 15 explosions were heard in Dnipro during the more than 90 minutes of air raid sirens, according to the RBC-Ukraine news agency.

The reports could not be independently verified by Reuters.
