Chris Jordan Replaces Injured Jofra Archer For Mumbai Indians In IPL 2023

The Mumbai Indians (MI) named Chris Jordan as a replacement for the injured Jofra Archer for the balance of the IPL 2023 season on Tuesday.

Chirs Jordan of England has been named to the Mumbai Indians squad to replace the injured Jofra Archer for the remainder of the IPL 2023 season. "The Mumbai Indians (MI) on Tuesday named Chris Jordan as a replacement for the injured Jofra Archer for the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023," the IPL announced in a press release.

Archer, who has been plagued by ailments in recent years, appeared in only five matches this season, taking two wickets. Last week, he played against the Chennai Super Kings.

The IPL announcement does not specify the cause of Archer's ailment, although it is thought to be his right elbow, which has been bothering him since 2021. Last year, Archer missed the entire IPL. He started MI's opening game of the season but then missed four straight.

According to reports, the lanky pacer was in Belgium in the middle of the tournament for minor surgery. He rejoined the team but was again left out owing to a "illness" reported by skipper Rohit Sharma.

Jordan, who made his IPL debut in 2016, has 27 wickets and has played 28 IPL matches. The speedster has played 87 T20Is for England and has taken 96 T20I wickets. Jordan joins MI for a fee of Rs. 2 crore.
