Coolio's cause of death was revealed to be Fentanyl
According to a spokesman for the late rapper Coolio, 59, the performer had signs of various substances in his system before he died.
According to a Los Angeles County coroner's report, the late Grammy Award-winning rapper, actor, and producer Coolio had traces of various substances in his system when he died, including fentanyl.
Coolio died on September 28 at the age of 59, according to the report. The rapper was discovered at a friend's house. According to the complaint, he went into his friend's lavatory for an undetermined amount of time and did not return. When the friend noticed Coolio was unresponsive, he contacted 911.
While his cause of death was not made public for months, the coroner's report stated that he had a history of asthma, past drug use, and other difficulties, in addition to various drugs.
Sheila Finegan, Coolio's manager, told Scripps News she could confirm the coroner's report outlining his death is accurate. Another Coolio agent, Jarel Posey, confirmed to Scripps News and TMZ that drugs were a factor in his death.
"I am not making any statements at this time out of respect for his children," Finegan added.
Cardiomyopathy appears to have also contributed to his demise.
Coolio, actual name Artis Ivey Jr., rose to prominence after singing the song "Gangsta's Paradise" for the successful film "Dangerous Minds" in 1995.
His family intended to honour him by wearing pendants containing his ashes on a necklace. According to Entertainment Tonight, each child would be able to select from a variety of personalised inscriptions.
