N Kiran Kumar Reddy, the former Congress leader and last chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, joined the BJP on Friday, praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi while criticising the opposition party's leadership.

In the presence of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Reddy joined the BJP and chastised the Congress leadership for its failure to accept people's decisions and make course adjustments.

They feel they are correct and that everyone else, including Indians, is wrong, he said. "I never anticipated I'd have to resign from Congress... "My king is very intelligent; he doesn't think on his own and doesn't listen to anyone's advice," former Congress leader Kiran Kumar Reddy said upon joining the BJP in Delhi.

They want control but don't want to work hard or accept responsibility, according to the four-time former MLA who left the Congress last month.

Reddy said he never envisaged leaving the Congress after his family's six-decade involvement with the party.

The Congress is being harmed in all states, he claims, and its upper command does not engage with or listen to others.

Reddy compared the BJP's ascent to the Congress's decline after 1984, and praised the ruling party's leaders, led by Modi, for their hard work and dedication to the nation.

They have clarity of mind and constancy, and they make daring decisions, according to him.

Reddy also praised Modi's dedication to fighting corruption.
