Two robbers allegedly stole 436 iPhones by stealing into an Apple Store at Seattle's Alderwood Mall. According to MacRumours (via King 5 News), burglars dug a hole in the bathroom wall of a coffee shop next door to get access to the Apple Store's backroom, bypassing Apple's security system.
According to the claim, the stolen iPhones are worth $500k, which amounts to $4,092,800. According to the allegation, no Apple employees were present at the time of the crime because the mall had already closed for the night.
According to Eric Marks, manager of Seattle Coffee Gear, the coffee shop is not visibly adjacent to the Apple business due to the layout of the business. "I would never have guessed we were adjacent to the Apple Store, how it wraps around," he remarked, before adding that the burglars must have knowledge of the mall architecture in order to carry out the robbery.
He also mentioned how the robbers were able to cut through their toilet hall without striking any pipes, implying that'someone had to think it out.'
Mike Atkinson, CEO of Seattle Coffee Gear, also tweeted about the incident.
Alderwood is "angry" and "working with Lynnwood Police" to solve the issue, according to a spokeswoman. The Lynnwood Police Department was able to collect security footage of the theft, but has not yet published it since the evidence is critical to the investigation.
Nothing was stolen from the coffee business, but it will have to pay $1,500 to fix the bathroom wall.
Apple has not yet responded on the incident.
