The Indian men's football team climbed five places to 101st in the FIFA rankings on Thursday, thanks to victories over Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan in the recent Tri-Nation competition. The 1-0 and 2-0 wins over Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan in Imphal last month guaranteed that India gained 8.57 rating points and five positions, moving up from 106th to just one place outside the top-100. This is the year's first ranking chart; the prior one was on December 22. India is now one spot lower than New Zealand and one place higher than Kenya.

The Igor Stimac-coached squad, with 1,200.66 total points, is ranked 19th out of 46 Asian nations.

India's highest position was 94th in 1996. The nation had only recently broken into the top 100.

Argentina climbed one place to the top of the list, followed by France, Brazil, Belgium, England, the Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.

Japan is the Asian country with the highest ranking.
