Christopher Lloyd, The King Of Cameos, Makes An Appearance On A Million Little Things Hours After The Mandalorian

After appearing as Commissioner Helgait in The Mandalorian's Season 3 episode "Chapter 22: Guns for Hire," the 84-year-old icon featured in a blink or you'll miss it cameo in A Million Little Things Season 5, Episode 9.

Is he now the master of cameos? It appears so. And we're not going to protest!

"Father's Day," an emotional episode, sees Gary (James Roday Rodriguez) celebrating his first Father's Day as a father while dealing with the loss of his own father, Javier (Paul Rodriguez), who died in the Season 5 premiere. Gary dreams at the beginning of the episode that he and his father are drinking beers while watching the 1970s sitcom Taxi, particularly the scene where Lloyd's character Jim receives his driver's licence. Fans of the show will recall that this exact scene occurred early in the series, after Gary returned from Peter's (Andrew Leeds) house.

"Oh, I love that episode," Maggie (Allison Miller) says when Gary wakes up and tells her about his dream. He was a total stoner... Christopher Lloyd is amazing at everything he does." Maggie's professional analysis is that Gary had the dream advance of Father's Day as a message from Javier to let him know he's still with him. "Consider it. "That was one of the worst nights of your life, and that dream is your father telling you that everything will be fine," she adds.

Gary laughs off the dream analysis and spends the rest of the show bonding with his son and remembering his father fondly. Later, while Gary and Danny (Chance Hurstfield) are watching TV, the same taxi scenario appears on the screen, and Maggie tells him it "seems like more than a coincidence." Danny breaks the tie and sides with Gary, implying that it isn't a sign from Javier, but when the two boys go out to dine together, they end up eating their words.

Gary drops his keys on the floor while Danny and Gary are eating french toast in a restaurant booth, and a man walking by pauses to pick them up. "I've got it. "No problem," the stranger states as he hands the keys to Gary. But hold on! That's not a weird person! It's Christopher Lloyd in person! Gary's jaw drops as he notices his beloved elderly father's flashing sign. The actor bids him a happy Father's Day, walks away, and Gary and Danny are taken aback.

"Can you tell me who that was?" Gary inquires. "Yeah. I voted differently. "I think so," Danny replies.

Gary updates Maggie on the newest developments before the episode ends, saying that the day taught him that his father is always with him.

A Million Little Things understands how to make us cry, as usual.
