According to police, as many as 12 persons were killed and 19 were rescued after the ceiling of a stepwell collapsed at the Beleshwar Mahadev Jhulelal temple in Indore on Thursday.
"As many as 11 people died, and one succumbed to injury," said Indore collector Ilayaraja T. A rescue effort is underway."

Police and devotees used ropes to pull individuals out.
The event occurred during a havan, according to Juni police. More than 25 people were sitting on the roof of the stepwell when it collapsed due to overburdening, and people fell down.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, has issued instructions to speed up the rescue effort in response to the incident.
"There are efforts being made to evacuate the followers. So far, some persons have been rescued from Bawdi," said the CM
