Keanu Reeves Received John Wick 4 Stunt Crew T-shirts That Listed How Many Times They Perished In The Film

Keanu Reeves sincerely wished that the stuntmen in "John Wick: Chapter 4" would never forget how many times they lost their lives while filming the big action film. Reeves gave the film's stunt team t-shirts that bore the number of deaths each stunt worker experienced in the movie, according to a recent article from The New York Times about the making of the sequel's iconic action sequences. That figure was higher than 20 for some members of the stunt team.

Why do you need a stunt worker for so many death scenes? This is the result of "John Wick: Chapter 4" using the same stunt actors in various sequences. The production used 35 stunt performers, many of whom had repeated deaths in the scene, for the instantly iconic staircase fight in which Reeves' John Wick fights bad guys as he races up the 222 steps leading to the Sacré-Coeur Basilica (only to be pushed back down to the bottom and have to do it all over again).

When director Chad Stahelski first informed fight coordinator Jeremy Marinas about the staircase scene, Marinas responded, "It's like, of course that's what you want." It was like we were going about our business as usual. "You want 100 guys falling down the stairs, and you want me to make every reaction and fall distinct.

We all understand how difficult it is to climb steps when we don't want to, Marinas continued. "It's hard enough to be a marksman on flat ground. Just think about how well Keanu — not John Wick — was able to shoot upwards while stepping."

The New York Times reported that it took seven evenings to film the stairway brawl. Each stuntman was probably "killed" four or five times, and at the conclusion of the shoot, Reeves created T-shirts for the stunt performers with the number of times they were killed throughout the entire film.

Reeves did each stunt that involved John Wick climbing the stairs, according to Stahelski. Stunt double Vincent Bouillon came in useful for the 44-second fall down the stairs.

When filming the scene, Stahelski said, "I think that look John Wick gives when he looks at his watch and actually looks up the staircase is maybe 50 percent John Wick and 50 percent Keanu Reeves going, 'Ugh, Stahelski did it to me again'." You must endure suffering. That's what makes John Wick entertaining. He endures pain, yet he persists.

Bruce Concepcion, Jeremy Marinas, Dave Camarillo, and Li Qiang made up Reeves' "John Wick: Chapter 4" stunt team. People magazine reported in 2021 that Reeves marked the end of production on the film by gifting his four-man stunt team personalised Rolex Submariner watches as a token of appreciation for their hard work on the upcoming action tentpole.

According to People magazine, "the actor personally engraved personal notes to each individual on the inside of each watch. In his Instagram Stories, Marinas showed off the watches, calling them the "best wrapped present ever." He also revealed that his watch said "The John Wick Five" and had the message, "Jeremy, thank you Keanu JW4 2021.
