The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has placed an order with Olectra Greentech Ltd, a division of Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL), for 550 all-electric buses for $1 billion. In 16 months, the buses will be delivered. The business stated in a BSE filing that the orders for the sale of 500 electric buses and 50 electric buses will be made on a gross cost contract (GCC) or OPEX model basis for periods of 12 years and 10 years, respectively (the contract duration). "We were awarded the contract by the TSRTC to provide 50 standard-floor 12-meter intercity coach e-buses and 500 low-floor 12-meter intracity e-buses. We are pleased to support the TSRTC's ambition for efficient and cost-effective large-scale public transportation. Next, the e-buses will be distributed in stages. The noise and pollution levels in Hyderabad would be greatly reduced by Olectra's pure e-buses, according to K.V. Pradeep, chairman and managing director of Olectra Greentech Ltd. "In March 2019, Olectra and TSRTC launched their partnership with 40 e-buses. These e-buses have begun running between the airport and different parts of Hyderabad. Olectra and TSRTC have teamed once more for 550 e-buses, beginning in March 2023, exactly four years later "Pradeep said. The 50 intercity coach e-buses will run between Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and the city of pearls, Hyderabad in Telangana. The e-buses are completely air-conditioned and have a 325 km range on a single charge. The 500 e-buses will operate in Hyderabad's inner city. With a single charge, an electric bus can go more than 225 kilometres. For the deployment and operation of these e-buses, TSRTC has designated five depots across the Twin Cities.
