Cornwall Earthquake: Locals Wake Up To rumble As 1. 5 Magnitude Quake Hits Country

Locals in Cornwall claim to have felt a "rumble" of an earthquake this morning. 9.3 kilometres south of Redruth, the seismic activity started at 6:31 am. This morning's earthquake near Cornwall measured 1.5 on the Richter scale, according to the British Geological Survey. It was a very little earthquake, although it was registered two kilometres beneath the surface. According to reports, the tremors were felt up to 14 kilometres from the epicentre, at Portleve. Many social media platforms were used by city dwellers to discuss their experiences. Several residents claimed to have felt and heard about the earthquake in Cornwall. One person, who was more than 10 miles from Helston, claimed to have heard a rumbling and felt a jolt shake. Even though they don't live near a road, another individual recounted the sound of a big vehicle approaching their house before their house began to shake and the sound stopped. Prior to this morning's tremor, Cornwall had not experienced an earthquake since last October, when a 0.5-magnitude quake struck close to Truro. After two lesser shocks earlier this month, a new map has been made available that shows the top 10 earthquakes to ever strike Britain. Although the UK has avoided the more devastating earthquakes that have occurred in other areas of the world, it nevertheless sees a lot of seismological activity. In fact, according to the British Geological Survey (BGS), the UK experiences 200 to 300 earthquakes annually.
