Broncos star Herbie Farnworth signs three-year deal with Dolphins
Herbie Farnworth, a standout for the Broncos, has suddenly reneged on a rumoured contract extension, accepting a three-year agreement with the Dolphins for 2024 and beyond. The 23-year-old, who played for England in the most recent World Cup and scored 19 tries in 53 games for Brisbane, has made a name for himself as one of the NRL's top centres in recent years. Farnworth, who was contracted to Brisbane until the end of 2023, has drawn a lot of attention from other teams. Despite a Courier Mail article from last month suggesting that Farnworth was likely to stay at the Broncos, Farnworth has chosen to accept the money being offered by Redcliffe. Terry Reader, the CEO of the Dolphins, was happy to see Farnworth's autograph since he thinks the team will benefit much from his presence. Herbie has without a doubt been on our radar since since we began recruiting for this club at the end of 2021, he stated. "Securing him on a long-term agreement is a great success for our team. We made a strong bid to acquire him for 2023 and barely lost out." Prior to being sidelined by injury, Herbie showed what a fantastic player he can be when playing for the Broncos last season. "It was fantastic to watch him recover from his biceps injury at the conclusion of last year and show what a top-tier athlete he is. We can't wait to see what he does in Dolphins regalia." Farnworth's 2022 season with Brisbane was cut short by injury, before sustaining a torn biceps in the midst of the year, one of the club's greatest players. The Manchester product has previously shown a desire to play fullback, which might put him in competition with Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in that position the next season. Kevin Walters, the head coach of the Broncos, is optimistic that Farnworth would give his best to the team until his departure.
Herbie informed us he would let us know before Round 1, and he kept his word. We admire his choice and his upfront manner, Walters added. "That's all settled now, and we can go forward without that being a distraction. We also know that Herbie will give everything he has throughout the 2023 season for his teammates and the Broncos shirt." "Here at the Broncos, we are lucky to have some fantastic talent in the centres, lead by Kotoni (Staggs) and Herbie, but also with Deine Mariner and Selwyn Cobbo coming up, Jesse Arthars returning to the team, and Delouise Hoeter giving very strong depth in that position." After the announcement, Farnworth also released a statement emphasising his desire to work hard this season to help the Broncos succeed. It was a hard choice, but he said, "I'm a Bronco until the conclusion of the season, and I will be giving 110% every time I pull on the Broncos uniform." I've played football with many of the players on this squad, so I owe it to them to make sure we have a successful season. We worked very hard and put in a really great preseason, so I'm eager to see what we can accomplish as a team in 2023.
