Former Sixer Matisse Thybulle talks comfort in Portland after shining in Blazers debut

When he made his Portland Trail Blazers debut on Monday night, former Sixers Matisse Thybulle and Jalen McDaniels were acquired in a four-team deal last week. In his debut start for the Blazers, Thybulle made four three-pointers and finished with 14 points and six rebounds. He didn't skimp on his defensive brilliance either; his three blocks helped the Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 127-115.Throughout his tenure in Philadelphia, Thybulle has participated in a variety of trade discussions. He has finally settled in with a new squad in a starting position, and he undoubtedly seems prepared for the challenge. It was incredibly satisfying. The first was that I felt at ease, but I wasn't aware of how much You may consider that a given.Thybulle said after the game on Tuesday, "So just being out there and feeling comfortable and knowing that I'm needed and wanted, that the coaching staff and players have my back, I believe it showed in my ability to play and be more of myself." Thybulle was playing for the Sixers this season, but he was only averaging 12.1 minutes per game, down from 25.5 last year. He played 26 minutes for Portland on Tuesday night and immediately experienced a sense of stability that he had previously found difficult to achieve when playing defence in Philadelphia, he remarked after the game.

In contrast to my previous roles, where I didn't have the opportunities or involvement in the offence, Thybulle said, "I think the freedom I have here to shoot open shots, make plays, and be a part of the offence frees me up mentally and allows me to kind of tap into the confidence that is there based off of the work I've been able to put in over the last few years, whereas in my previous roles it would make it hard to feel grounded or comfortable, so second guessing and doubt Even if it's still early, the fact that I've already played one game and one practise and feel at ease says a lot, in my opinion. He appeared to be at ease. Thybulle's 4-of-6 three-point shooting in his debut marked the first time he has hit more than three threes in a game since he reached a career best of five in December of his rookie season in 2019–20. Even if the sample size is still tiny, the Sixers have a history of cutting players who later go on to excel for other teams. Isaiah Joe instantly came to mind. After being released by Philadelphia a few months ago, he is presently Oklahoma City Thunder's NBA-leading three-point shooter. Despite all of this, McDaniels has performed admirably for the Sixers thus far. McDaniels played practically the whole game in Philadelphia's second game. With Tyrese Maxey for the bench unit, he has played 28 minutes and has eight points, six rebounds, and three assists. In essence, it's too soon to say who "won" the transaction. Thybulle's recent problems in the playoffs for the Sixers are not undone by one strong regular-season shooting game, and neither player can be evaluated in their new environments until they have played more games.
