Dave Hollis: Former Disney Executive, Dies At 47

Dave Hollis, once in charge of Walt Disney Studios' global theatrical distribution, has passed away. He was 47. A representative for Hollis' family confirmed to the Los Angeles Times on Monday that the longtime film executive passed away at his home in Austin, Texas, on Saturday night after having recently been hospitalised "for some cardiac difficulties." The precise reason of death is yet unknown. Author of "Girl, Wash Your Face" and ex-wife of Dave Hollis, Rachel Hollis, said in a statement posted on Instagram on Tuesday that their family is "devastated." Four children were born to Dave Holis and Rachel Holis. Rachel Hollis penned, "I have no words, and my heart is too crushed to find them. Please remember the children in your prayers as we attempt to deal with the unimaginable.Disney elevated Dave Hollis to head the studio's worldwide distribution division in 2011. Hollis supervised the debuts of popular series including "Star Wars" and "The Avengers" during his seven years in the role. Before departing the Mouse House in 2018 to take the helm as CEO of Chic Media, Rachel Hollis's women-focused digital content firm, Hollis worked there for 17 years. When Hollis left the company, Alan Bergman, the current co-chairman of Disney Entertainment, remarked, "I am very appreciative to Dave for his energetic and gutsy leadership of our distribution operation, which has seen our studio [expand] to new heights at the international box office."Hollis' Instagram account has a video and inspirational message that he shot in September posted to it. Hollis has spent a lot of time lately using Instagram and his podcast "Rise Together" to share the life advice and experiences of himself and others. He titled the message, "Wanna feel better about yourself?" You are not need to rise early. You don't have to put forth more effort. Nothing further needs to be done. You simply need to keep the promises you've made to yourself. It is always the best approach to build self-esteem, pride, dignity, confidence, and, dare I say it, real love for oneself. Simple, but not always simple. Let's leave.
