Arizona Cardinals: Former Cardinal Conrad Dobler Dies at 72
Conrad Dobler, a former guard for the Arizona Cardinals, passed away on Monday in Pueblo, Colorado, according to a team announcement. He was 72. Dobler played 10 seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals (1972–77), New Orleans Saints (1978–79), and Buffalo Bills after being selected by the Cardinals in the fifth round of the 1972 NFL Draft out of Wyoming (1980–81). Dobler was an integral part of the Cardinals teams that won the NFC East in 1974 and 1975 while playing under head coach Don Coryell, who was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame this week. These teams had three straight seasons of 10 or more victories during this time. He was a Pro Bowl selection from 1974 through 1976.Conrad Dobler's friends, family, and former teammates are in our thoughts and prayers, Cardinals club owner Michael Bidwill stated in a statement. He was the sort of rugged, physical, and ferocious player that you would rather line up with as a teammate than as an adversary. Conrad had a significant role in the 1970s Cardiac Cards' on-field triumph. Away from it, he was a genuine source of joy and compassion for everyone who had the honour of calling him a friend, and that is what I will cherish the most.
