Melvin Gordon will get a Super Bowl ring from Chiefs

It appears that the Lombardi Trophy is currently just used as a participation award. In Super Bowl 57, the Chiefs defeated the Eagles, earning Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Andy Reid among others their second championship in four years. The running back from the practise squad, Melvin Gordon, also earned his first Super Bowl victory, though he didn't contribute much to the "earn" portion. Gordon did not take part in any Chiefs games, ran for 0 yards and scored zero touchdowns while taking zero snaps, but he did leave with a brand-new Super Bowl ring. Gordon will always be grateful for that information, and he also made sure to keep the receipts. Gordon tweeted a couple times after the game to thank the Chiefs for the journey and to share a little piece of a rebuke to Chargers supporters who aren't too happy with his alleged ride-along to the Lombardi. The running back played for the Chargers for the first five years of his career, when salary disagreements and fumbling problems overshadowed his effective performance. The bulk of the 2022 season was spent by Gordon with the Broncos, although there was a definite rift between the 29-year-old running back and head coach Nathaniel Hackett there. His gaffes, a regrettable hallmark of his career, caused his dismissal earlier in the season. Gordon participated in the game on Super Bowl Sunday, but he didn't take a single play in the exciting 38-35 victory for the Chiefs over the Eagles.Gordon: One championship ring. The Chargers: No championship medals Think about that for a moment.
