In Super Bowl LVII, the Kansas City Chiefs masterminded a spectacular comeback victory to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 and earn their second NFL championship in four years. A 27-yard field goal by Harrison Butker in the waning seconds helped the Chiefs, led by quarterback and league MVP Patrick Mahomes, win a thrilling game in Glendale, Arizona, after they trailed 24-14 at halftime. For the second time, Mahomes won the Super Bowl MVP award. Jordan Mailata and Arryn Siposs, both Australians, were heavily involved for Philadelphia but ultimately fell short. Both quarterbacks- Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City and Jalen Hurts of Philadelphia—entered the contest nursing ailments, Mahomes with an ankle issue and Hurts with a shoulder issue. It was swift. The Eagles had a strong first drive of the game, moving the ball nicely. The Eagles got down to the one-yard line during the drive, and Hurts completed four completions along with a scamper for a first down before sneaking in for the score. The Chiefs responded, as Mahomes directed a 65-yard drive highlighted by two throws to star tight end Travis Kelce and a 24-yard rush for rookie running back Isiah Pacheco. The drive was finished with an 18-yard throw into the right near corner of the end zone that helped square the scores. Arryn Siposs, an Australian punter and former St. Kilda AFL player, entered the game later in the first quarter when he kicked a punt for Philadelphia that travelled 57 yards and was returned 12 yards by the Chiefs to start their second drive. The Philadelphia defence was having trouble controlling Kelce. When Mahomes connected with him for another big pass of 22 yards, the Chiefs once more entered Eagles territory. However, the Eagles made a huge play on third down, placing a strain on Mahomes. Harrison Butker missed a field goal attempt from 42 yards by the Chiefs, keeping the score at 7-7.

Mahomes demonstrated that his ankle was OK with a 14-yard scamper.

Pacheco scored a little touchdown on the ground two plays later, bringing the score back to 24-21 following the extra point. Miles Sanders intercepted a short throw from the Eagles while they were starting from their own 25, and Bolton ran it in for a touchdown. However, officials later overturned the score, citing Sanders' lack of control and the fact that the pass was incomplete. The Chiefs found themselves still in second place after seizing the lead and were attempting to halt the Eagles' push. It wasn't Brown or Smith this time.Dallas Goedert, a tight end, was Hurts' top target and delivered two long gains for first downs. A 17-yard reception from the second was contested but upheld after review.Despite Hurts being sacked for the first time by Khalen Saunders, the Eagles continued to advance downfield. With two minutes remaining in the third quarter, Philadelphia ultimately settled for a field goal to increase their advantage to 27-21. Although Patrick Mahomes' ankle still seemed to be hurting, the Chiefs started moving the ball once again.

While Pacheco continued to gain yardage, Mahomes found his receivers to advance the chains. Finally, Kansas City was able to get the matchup they want when Patrick Mahomes connected with an unguarded Kadarius Toney on a five-yard touchdown throw. With little over 12 minutes left, the Chiefs seized the lead for the first time thanks to the extra point. The Chiefs' returner, Toney, received the correct blocks to carry the ball back 64 yards to the Eagles' five-yard line when Siposs knocked him out of bounds. Kansas City's defence was able to stop the Eagles and force a punt by Australian Arryn Siposs. Three plays later, Mahomes connected with Sky Moore for a score, giving the Chiefs a 35-27 lead. Even though time was running out, the Eagles still had work to do. Hurts was making catches for his receivers; when DeVonta Smith broke loose downfield, Hurts made the catch for a big gain. Smith gained 45 yards after failing to maintain his feet within the two-yard line. Before halting, Jerick McKinnon ran the ball to the one-yard line.letting the Chiefs continue to make plays to reduce the remaining time. Butker eventually made the winning field goal. When the Eagles had only a few seconds left to score a touchdown, they were forced to attempt a last-ditch effort that fell short and set up celebrations from the Chiefs.
