Kyle Busch Violated The Gun Laws In Mexico While On Vacation Earlier

A weapon and ammo were found in Kyle Busch's suitcase late last month, which led to his detention at a Mexican airport. This Monday, the NASCAR driver recognised the event and apologised, calling it "a mistake." This month, a judge in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo—home to the beach resorts of Cancun and Tulum—sentenced Busch to 312 years in jail and mandated that he pay a $1,000 fine for possessing a rifle and ammunition.

According to the federal attorney general's office, the judge chose to impose a conditional sentence and permit Busch to depart Mexico after posting a bond. The amount he paid was kept a secret by the office.

Busch, a two-time NASCAR champion and the most successful driver competing in the Cup Series, recognised the issue in a social media post on Monday. On January 27, after attempting to leave Cancun's international airport, Busch was detained by the National Guard. According to a statement from the attorney general's office, a.380 calibre pistol with six hollow-point bullets was found in his luggage after it was scanned at the private flight terminal.

On January 29, Busch appeared before a judge, who authorised the arrest. Busch received his punishment on February 3rd, the statement said.

The judge will then schedule a second hearing to determine the specifics of Busch's conditional punishment and the location of his fine payment. He may escape any further incarceration.
