Raiders QB Derek Carr named to 2023 Pro Bowl Games as alternate for Joe Burrow

Despite missing the final two games of the regular season, quarterback Derek Carr will play for the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2023 Pro Bowl.Carr will replace Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow in the Pro Bowl, the team and NFL confirmed on Tuesday.Carr has played in four Pro Bowls in his eight years with the Raiders.Carr was benched by the Raiders for the final few weeks of the regular season, and he has already said his one and only NFL team farewell. However, he is still under contract in Vegas, and by February 15 the $40.4 million in compensation will be completely guaranteed. Before that deadline, the Raiders may negotiate a trade for Carr, release him, or sit on his contract in the hopes that a transaction would come together later past year to, Baker Mayfield and the Browns.Meanwhile, Carr will attend the Pro Bowl Games at Allegiant Stadium with fellow Raiders players Davante Adams, Maxx Crosby, Josh Jacobs, and AJ Cole for maybe one final celebration.The quarterback position in the AFC has undergone a full makeover with Carr's inclusion on the Pro Bowl team. Initially chosen were Josh Allen, Brandon Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes (Super Bowl). Mahomes was replaced by Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence. Allen was replaced by Ravens QB Tyler Huntley, who started four regular-season contests for Baltimore. The initial backups, Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Tua Tagovailoa, are not available because of illness or injury.
