Today marks the maiden flight for the brand-new low-cost Australian airline Bonza, which promises to provide "travel for the many, not the few." This morning, low-cost airline chief executive Tim Jordan told The Washington Post that the company wanted to revolutionise domestic travel."It's about stimulating new markets and enabling a large number of locations and individuals to travel to visit friends and relatives... He declared, "We are about travel for the people, not the few."Jordan was speaking when Bonza's inaugural trip from Queensland's Sunshine Coast to the Whitsunday Islands took off today.It will be one of 27 itineraries that the airline will provide to 17 locations.Last week, flights went on sale, with prices starting at $49.79 dollars one-way.Jordan said that by adding additional flights to underserved rural regions, the new airline hoped to stimulate new tourism markets."Our main goal is to see friends and family," the speaker said.Flights to Cairns and Mildura start at $79, while flights to Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, and Rockhampton start at $49 each Rockhampton,Toowoomba, the Whitsunday Coast, Mackay, Gladstone, and Bundaberg are further locations in Queensland.Newcastle, Albury, Mildura, Avalon, Melbourne, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, and Tamworth are also interstate stops.Flights from Bonza's second base at Melbourne Airport will start selling tickets "in a couple of weeks," according to Bonza.
