US tennis player Ben Shelton Reach Australian Open quarterfinals

Ben Shelton of the US has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.Ben Shelton is not exaggerating when he says that he is now extremely busy. The 20-year-old, who is playing in only his second major main event, has advanced to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open at Melbourne Park this week.Even if his opponent, fellow American Tommy Paul, is also having a strong season, a spot in the last four is a possibility.Shelton has more commitments than only the Australian Open; he also has to start back at his American institution the following week. After defeating fellow countryman JJ Wolf in five sets in the fourth round, Shelton declared, "There's definitely a lot on my plate."Starting school this week, playing in my first grand slam [tournament] outside of the United States. There has been a lot. But thus far, I'm really liking it. Shelton attends the University of Florida, where he represented when he won the US collegiate singles championship the previous year. He is enrolled in classes part-time, which enables him to concentrate as much as possible on his nascent professional tennis career. Shelton stated, "I'm taking classes at a little bit of a slower pace than I was when I was in school full-time."I don't have a very challenging task. While I'm playing tennis, it's really tolerable. I have not encountered any issues or difficulties thus far in January."I'm determined to finish my degree," I place a lot of importance on it. "That's something I'm going to stick with and keep doing." Whether or not Shelton loses in the Melbourne quarterfinals, he will see a significant increase in the global rankings from his present ATP rating of 89.Increasing your rating will give you more opportunities to enter tournaments' main draws directly, bypassing the qualification rounds. As the season progresses, Shelton made a joke about having to balance his playing obligations with his tests. When my test dates potentially conflict with some of my matches, things will become interesting, he predicted."Here and there, a few assignments." Pretty simple stuff.

No demands are made:

Before going to Australia for the season-opening major, Shelton, whose father Bryan was a tour professional in the 1980s and 1990s, had never left the United States.

His maiden grand slam debut was in the US Open last year, where he was eliminated in the first round.

He started the 2022 season at 573rd place and rose steadily to his current career-high position.

Shelton was well aware of the difficulties involved with performing outside of the US for the first time.

I had no expectations when I boarded the aircraft, he claimed.

"I know that coming from the United States, simply with the jet lag, time shift, and everything, it's quite difficult to acclimatise to Australia."Since it was my first trip and I had never been outside of the US, I anticipated difficulty.

"So I believe that maybe has benefited me a little bit," she said, "being able to just go out there, be myself, and play free, kind of not having the expectation or the idea that I have to perform."

"I believe that has really aided in my achievement," the speaker said.
