CAQM requests that coal allocation to suppliers cease from Coal india ,Haryana, and UP. In order to prevent coal from being supplied by various coal firms to CIL agents working in the National Capital Region, the Commission for Air Quality Management on Thursday requested cooperation from the governments of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, as well as Coal India Limited (CIL) (NCR).
According to the Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Climate Change, "The Commission also advised the entities/units/industries, including stockists, traders, and dealers of coal, to ensure compliance and discontinue coal supply in the NCR for any kind of usage, stocking, selling, or trading in the entire NCR, except for Thermal Power Plants (TPPs)".
According to the commission's statutory directives, starting on January 1, 2023, the whole NCR must stop using coal and other prohibited fuels for all types of operations and applications in all industries, including commercial, industrial, and other uses.
As stated in the common fuel list established by the Commission's Directions, "coal usage is now fully restricted (except in TPPs) and is not regarded a legal fuel within the NCR," the ministry continued.
84 industrial facilities in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana that were previously not utilising permitted fuels shut down their operations either temporarily or permanently in accordance with the Commission's instructions.
Beyond 01.01.2023, compliance has further improved, and only 02 units were found using such heavily polluting fuels during inspection, indicating satisfactory compliance with the Commission's statutory directions, the ministry said. "Since the last three months, w.e.f. October 1, 2012, only 21 industrial units were found using highly polluting unapproved fuels like coal, furnace oil, etc., and those units have been closed pursuant to CAQM closure directions.
The flying squad of the Commission will keep doing covert checks around the NCR to make sure that only authorised fuels are used.
