Ukraine interior minister, 3 children among 18 killed in Kyiv helicopter crash
Three children were reportedly among the 18 individuals killed in a helicopter accident in Kyiv, according to the interior minister of Ukraine. Two children were among the dead and ten of them were hospitalised during the Russia-Ukraine War, according to authorities, according to news agency Reuters.
According to AFP, a helicopter accident outside of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, killed 18 people, including the interior minister of that nation.
Oleksiy Kuleba, the governor of the Kyiv area, said that three children were also slain. Information regarding 29 injured people, including 15 minors, is available. They receive the required help, he added. The deputy of the minister and another official also perished, according to the British network BBC.
In Brovary, a helicopter crashed. Igor Klymenko, the chief of Ukraine's police force, claimed that "as a result, the leadership of the interior ministry perished."
Denys Monastyrsky, a 42-year-old father of two who was appointed to the position in 2021, served as the interior ministry's director. He was assisted by Yevgeniy Yenin.
In Brovary, a neighbourhood of Kyiv, an emergency services helicopter crashed, killing nine people, according to Reuters.
Northeast of Kyiv, in the hamlet of Brovary, the helicopter crashed.
Videos posted to social media show the accident site engulfed in flames and smoke as rescue efforts are made. The helicopter crashed close to a school, a kindergarten, and a residential structure, according to AFP.
A video of the accident site was provided by Kira Rudik, a member of the Ukrainian parliament.
Oleksiy Kuleba, chairman of Kyiv's regional administration, had earlier stated that a helicopter had crashed in Brovary, close to a school and a residence. Kids and staff were in the kindergarten at the time of the incident.
During the initial stages of Vladimir Putin's invasion, which started in February of last year, Russia and Ukraine battled for control of Brovary. Early in April, defeated Russian soldiers left Brovary.
The accident comes after a Russian missile damaged a residential building in the eastern city of Dnipro last week, killing 45 people, including six children.
