India has overtook Australia to take the top spot among Test teams for just two hours without playing a series thanks to an ICC error.

Since neither India nor Australia are currently playing in any Test series and are scheduled to play one against each other next month, the ranking change was the consequence of a significant error on the ICC website. When Team India discovered they were first in the ICC Test rankings on Tuesday afternoon, they had a happy moment. Fans tweeted about it, but it only happened for two hours.

On the chart, Australia had recaptured first spot. A serious malfunction in the ICC website caused the ranking to change since neither India nor Australia could access the website. are scheduled to play one Test match next month against one another and are currently participating in any Test series.

Only at the conclusion of each series do ICC Test rankings frequently alter. The most recent revision was made on January 8, following Australia's victory against South Africa at home. They received 126 rating points, which put them in first position.

On the other side, India last participated in a Test series in late December, when they easily defeated Bangladesh on the road. They received 115 rating points, placing them second.

The rankings are unlikely to move while there are no Test matches being played, but India managed to climb to the top of the tables on Tuesday afternoon in what subsequently proved to be a significant victory.

India kept its rating point, but by virtue of Australia losing 15 points, they took the top place, according to a screen capture from the ICC website that started making the rounds on Twitter. The West Indies moved up from ninth to sixth while South Africa, who was previously rated fourth, fell to fifth.

Australia recaptured the position two hours later once the ICC website fault was fixed.

The Border-Gavaskar series, which starts on February 9th, presents an opportunity for India to seize the lead. India can defeat Australia if they defeat them by a score of at least 2-0. But the World Test Championship final will be a larger priority for India and Australia.
