Watch as fans swarm the stadium in wild celebrations as Bangladesh shocks Australia with a victory in the U19 Women's T20 World Cup by seven wickets.

At the U19 Women's T20 World Cup, Bangladesh stunned Australia by defeating them by a score of 7-wickets.

The Bangladesh U19 Women's team surprised Australia by seven wickets at Benoni to get the T20 World Cup off to an extraordinary start. Australia made the decision to bat first, but the team got off to a rough start, losing its first two wickets for 22 runs.

The team eventually totalled 130/5 in 20 overs, with Claire Moore scoring a half-century but only doing so after batting 51 balls. Marufa Akter and Disha Biswas each claimed two wickets for Bangladesh.

In the run chase, Bangladesh got off to the worst possible start when Misty Shaha was out on the first ball of the innings. However, a 66-run partnership between Afia Prottasha and Dilara Akter helped stabilise their batting.

The two batters took their time because the goal was rather modest, but Shorna Akter (23*) and Sumaiya Akter (31) finally led the team to victory with two overs left.

The dugout erupted in jubilant excitement as Sumiaya blasted the winning runs for Bangladesh. After the game, supporters surrounded the squad as they returned to the dressing room, thus security staff at the stadium had to protect the Bangladesh cricketers.

Dilara Akter's 40-run innings earned her the title of player of the game.

The outcome shocked the cricketing world since several Australian U19 women's cricketers—Ella Hayward, Amy Smith, and Rhys Mckenna, to name a few—play in the Women's Big Bash League, the nation's top T20 league tournament.

It was also the opening match in the first Women's U19 T20 WC; later in the day, South Africa and India played in the competition. Shafali Verma, the captain of the Indian squad, is a key member of the senior team in all competitions.
