Trainers Left Reeling As Magic Millions Called Off

Due to an unsafe track on the Gold Coast brought on by heavy rain, Magic Millions has been cancelled.

The first two races of the competition were cancelled.Due to the track's condition, the Magic Millions racing meet on the Gold Coast was cancelled after only two races.

When jockeys and officials considered the track hazardous on Saturday afternoon, the nation's premier race meeting was called off.

While it wasn't torrential rain on Saturday, the track's condition had deteriorated from an excellent four to a soft six due to persistent rain in the weeks leading up to the meet.

After the judgement was decided, jockey Rachel King, who had competed in both events. To really have a sense of how it would unfold, we probably needed to complete the first two races."We may have made it through if the remainder of the day had been bright and sunny." But the fact that it was raining made things more challenging.

In Queensland, where there are more votes, "they have a different method." The riders had to cast ballots (on whether to continue on). Although the procedure was drawn out, it ensured that everyone had a voice.Everyone got a chance to speak out in the steward and jockey's chamber, and discussions allowed all opinions to be heard.

Tony Gollan, a horse trainer, expressed disappointment but added that he "absolutely" concurred with the choice.

"Some places are drier than others." It results in a surface that isn't really uniform, he added. That's what we don't like, and the same is true for the horses and riders. "This is by far the greatest choice," someone said.

Although  Bruce McAvaney stated it was a "no-brainer" for the event to resume next Saturday, it is not yet known when the remaining eight races will be run. Early conjecture is that it may be during a mid-week meet.Paul Snowden, a fellow trainer, and Gollen simply want to know so they can plan.Knowing what's happening is essential for Paul and I to be able to plan for the future.

Naturally, we must determine our next course of action very swiftly, Snowden continued. To keep the horses ticking over until we get back on track, I would love to be somewhere between the middle of next week and the end of next week. You are probably aware of how unpredictable they can be, and dealing with a 2-year-old is a daily task. Although I would be acting in that manner.
