Model Tatjana Patitz has passed away at the age of 56, her modelling agency has confirmed.
The reason of death has not been made public. When she passed away, the model, who was of German descent, was residing in California.
Patitz, who became well-known in the 1990s, was one of the most well-known supermodels of the time. Additionally, she had appearances in George Michael and Duran Duran music videos.
She claimed that "not appearing like anybody else" was the key to her success in an interview with Vogue magazine in 1988.She said at the time, "People always remarked I looked extraordinary... "And I was going to make it because of that.A German father and an Estonian mother gave birth to Patitz in Hamburg in 1966.Her family subsequently moved to Sweden, where at the age of 17, she joined a competition. It took a few years for her career to take off after she placed third.
But by 1988, she was being captured on camera by renowned fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh.
belong with Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Linda Evangelista, and Christy Turlington, Patitz appeared on the iconic 1990 British Vogue cover, solidifying her place among the "original" five supermodels of the decade.
She also appeared in the 1990 music video for George Michael's song "Freedom!" and worked on Chanel, Calvin Klein, and Versace advertising campaigns.
Tatjana was always the epitome of elegant in Europe, comparable to Romy Schneider and Monica Vitti, according to Anna Wintour, worldwide editorial director of Vogue. She was more enigmatic, mature, and unreachable than her classmates, and it had its own charm. She was also far less well-known than her peers.
Tatjana was praised for her "kindness, inner beauty, and excellent intelligence" by the Peter Lindbergh Foundation.She will be greatly missed, the Foundation stated on Twitter.
According to the Reuters news agency, Patitz most recently walked the runway at the Etro show during Milan Fashion Week in February 2019.Her son Jonah, who is 19 years old, is still alive.
