Austin Butler simply couldn't get rid of the King's Mississippi drawl, not even while accepting a Golden Globe for his compelling performance as Elvis Presley in the movie of the same name.

At the presentation on Tuesday, the actor from California, who played Presley from his teenage years until his tragic passing at age 42, took home the prize for outstanding actor in a dramatic motion picture. Butler's speech was delivered with the same Southern drawl he used in "Elvis," which he hasn't been able to get rid of since the movie was shot.

He smiled and said, "My boy, my boy!" "Every word I say is leaving me."

Hearing that recognisable twang wasn't particularly surprising to those who had been following his awards season trip. He admitted to asking individuals if they thought he always spoke like Elvis Presley to ET last year.

Butler told ET, "I think you can't help it when you live with something for two years and don't do anything about it. "It becomes a part of who you are."

He said to the Los Angeles Times that his devotion to the character could be seen as "unhealthy," but he voluntarily gave himself up to the late artist and his memory. His infatuation with the part has now become folklore.

Every day after preparing, I could sit with my emotions and think about these questions: "How does it feel? Where will my obsession take me today?" Butler revealed to the magazine last year. It began to focus more on my personal bond with Elvis.

Back at the Globes, Butler ended his victory speech with a salute to the King himself, saying, "You were an icon and a renegade, and I love you so much!" in typical fanboy form. Butler crooned while pointing upward. "I will never forget you, and you are remembered."
