Harry Brook, Ashleigh Gardner Bag ICC Player Of The Month Awards For December 2022

In England's 3-0 rout of Pakistan, Brook was a crucial contributor.

The winners of the ICC Player of the Month awards for December 2022 were announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Tuesday, January 10. The prize honours the top performances by male and female cricketers in every type of international competition.

Harry Brook, an England batsman, was named the ICC Player of the Month in the men's division for his outstanding performance in the three-match Test series against Pakistan away from home. Brook won the prize ahead of Australian left-hander Travis Head and Pakistani captain Babar Azam.

Brook contributed significantly to England's 3-0 victory against Pakistan and finished the series as the series' leading run scorer with 468 runs. In Jonny Bairstow's absence, he proved to be the ideal replacement for England's daring style, scoring runs at a scorching strike rate of 93.41.

Harry Brook, who was playing in just his second Test, scored 153 and 87 in the series opener in Rawalpindi. He needed just 116 balls to reach his century in the first innings, which set the tone for the rest of the series as he completely destroyed Pakistan's bowling lineup.

Brook went on to receive the Player of the Match award after scoring 100 in each of the final two tests.

Ashleigh Gardner of Australia won the prize in the women's division, besting Suzie Bates of New Zealand and Charlie Dean of England for the coveted monthly honour.

Gardner received the honour as a result of her outstanding performance during the T20I tour of India last month. The Australian all-rounder amassed 115 runs at an average above 50 and shared the lead in wickets during the five-match series against India with seven taken.

Gardner earned the title of Player of the Series as a result, and she added the monthly ICC award to her victory.
