At different times in their life, many people have longed to finish their degrees, and for this 89-year-old woman, her wish was fulfilled. Joan Donovan, class of 22G, was reportedly surrounded by family members as she received her graduation for a Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing, according to Southern New Hampshire University. She sent the institution a statement in which she stated, "I am just pleased." "I'm overwhelmed, and your goodwill means a lot. I'm honoured."
Donovan's academic journey was unique from the beginning. She asserted that she entered first grade at the age of four and a half and completed high school at the age of sixteen. After that, she got married, started a family, and was unable to finish her degree. After her six children reached adulthood, Donovan rekindled her desire to enrol in college. At the age of 84, she completed her undergraduate studies at a four-year institution.
"Throughout the ordeal, Joan continued to generate texts that exhibited brilliance, inventiveness, and, above all things, humour," Dr. Will Napier, Donovan's capstone professor, told the institution. There was always time for humour with all that was going on during the term, and Joan was quick to point out the positive aspects of everything.
