When map on hockey World Cup trophy showed Jammu and Kashmir as part of Pakistan

There was a dilemma when Jammu and Kashmir was depicted as being a part of Pakistan on the hockey World Cup trophy.

Before the revisions were made and only continent boundaries were shown, according to former FIH president Narinder Batra, he allegedly threatened Indian customs with not allowing the trophy for the 2018 World Cup to be shown in Odisha. The hockey World Cup trophy will arrive at the brand-new Birsa Munda Stadium in Rourkela on January 13 when India takes against Spain after travelling through 13 states, one union territory, and 30 districts of Odisha.

Thousands of people, including previous and present players, have greeted the fashionable trophy with tremendous excitement. It is made of gold and silver and has a hockey stick and ball on top of a globe.

wherever it has been paraded during the past month, in every city and neighbourhood. However, the trophy nearly caused a problem for the International Hockey Federation (FIH) as well as the host nation five years ago when Odisha hosted hockey's premier tournament for the first time.

Narinder Batra, a former president of the FIH, Hockey India, and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), disclosed on Thursday that he had threatened the international organisation, saying he would "guarantee that the Indian Customs do not clear the trophy to enter" the nation.

The cause? According to Batra, Pakistan was depicted as including Jammu and Kashmir on the world map adorning the trophy.

Batra, who resigned as the president of IOA and FIH last year, said: "After I became President of FIH in 2016, I insisted on the correction and told FIH that neither I nor will I allow any Indian political leader to present this trophy during the 2018 World Cup in India, and I will ensure that Indian Customs do not clear the trophy to enter India with an incorrect map. "The award was ultimately fixed in 2017, at which point just continents were shown and national boundaries were eliminated."

The FIH acknowledged that changes were made to the award in 2017, but would not specify what changes were made.

The World Cup trophy, which was conceptualised and created by Pakistan in 1971 when the first edition was held and was the creation of former Pakistan Hockey Federation president Nur Khan, is listed on the FIH website. The Electrical and Mechanical Engineers Corps of the Pakistan Army performed the actual handiwork, according to the FIH's website. "The designer was Basheer Moojid."

Pakistan's ambassador to Belgium, where the international organisation at the time had its headquarters, officially handed over the trophy to then-FIH President Rene Frank in Brussels. After adjustments were made, the trophy was permitted to enter the country decades later, in 2018, when Belgium won the title for the first time.

Bhubaneswar's Kalinga Stadium. To defend their title, the Belgians arrived in the state's capital on Friday.

The 16-team tournament, which will be co-hosted in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, was not qualified for by Pakistan, a nation that has long been a dominant force and the winner of the first World Cup.
