Delhi's main weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius today. At Palam, the visibility was just about 50 metres due to extremely dense fog.

New Delhi: According to the India Meteorological Department, Delhi recorded a minimum temperature today of 2.2 degrees Celsius, which is five degrees below average and the season's lowest so far.

At Palam, visibility was so low that it was only around 50 metres, which had an impact on both rail and road traffic. At 5:30 am, there were 25 metres of visibility at the Palam observatory near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.

According to a railroad official, the fog caused 36 trains to be delayed between one to seven hours.

The weather office defines "extremely deep" fog as fog with visibility between 0 and 50 metres, "dense" fog as between 51 and 200 metres, "moderate" fog as between 201 and 500 metres, and "shallow" fog as between 501 and 1,000 metres.

The main weather station in Delhi, Safdarjung Observatory, recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius.

Weather stations in Lodhi Road, Ayanagar, and Ridge measured minimum temperatures of 2, 3.4, and 1.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to the IMD, the humidity was reported at 100% at 8:30 a.m.

Mostly clear sky, moderate to dense fog, and chilly conditions during the day are what the weather service has forecast. The highest temperature will probably be in the range of 16 degrees Celsius.
