According to reports, Manchester United and Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have agreed to loan out forward Vincent Aboubakar.
After terminating Cristiano Ronaldo's contract at the end of last month, the Red Devils are looking for a new centre forward. The 37-year-old has since teamed up with Aboubakar at Al-Nassr.
Aboubakar, who previously played for Porto and Besiktas, has spent the last 18 months at Al Nassr. In 39 appearances across all competitions, he has scored 13 goals, including four goals in 12 games so far this season.
The 30-year-old recently led Cameroon to a historic 1-0 group-stage victory over Brazil while serving as the team's captain at the 2022 World Cup.
Manchester United have reportedly been "alerted" by Aboubakar's availability, with Al Nassr eager to send the seasoned striker out on loan, according to a recent report.
Following Ronaldo's arrival, Al-Nassr reached the number of non-Saudi Arabian players allowed in their first-team roster and are unable to register the Portuguese legend until one of their remaining seven foreign players leaves the club.
The Red Devils and Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce have an agreement in place to take Aboubakar on loan, according to Saudi Arabian news site OKAZ. The striker is anticipated to prefer a move to the Premier League.
Erik ten Hag's attacking options would be improved by Aboubakar's prospective short-term move to Old Trafford, and Al-Nassr would be able to officially register Ronaldo.
Aboubakar spoke highly of himself before the World Cup and thought he could do better than Mohamed Salah, the top player for Liverpool and Egypt.
During an interview with @90football, Salah was brought up. "I understand people's opinions; he's one of the finest goal scorers in the Premier League," remarked Fr. Aboubakar.
"It makes obvious that people will discuss when you talk about a guy like him." I did, however, mention that it was my opinion and point of view.
I don't care what people think since I'm not impressed by him. What he does, I can also do. I simply don't have the opportunity to play for a major team.
If Ten Hag manages to get Aboubakar, it is unknown if he will try to sign another attack-minded player since the only two centre-forward alternatives at his disposal right now are Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Due to speculation surrounding Memphis Depay's long-term future at Barcelona, the former Red Devils forward has been linked with a potential return to Old Trafford.
Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach and Joao Felix of Atletico Madrid are two further attackers who might go in January, but it's said that United is unlikely to sign the latter for the £18.5 million cost that the Spanish club is seeking to approve a loan deal.
This month, Ten Hag plans to prioritise adding a center-forward.after hiring Crystal Palace backup goalkeeper Jack Butland on a temporary basis.
