According to predictions, India's 5G network will offer data speeds that are roughly 10 times quicker than those of 4G, making it essential for new technologies like artificial intelligence and self-driving cars.
According to Counterpoint, the market share of 5G handsets in the lower price range (less than 20,000 rupees, or $241.55) is predicted to increase to 30% in 2023 from 4% in 2018.
Following its $19 billion 5G spectrum auction victory in August, India's leading telecom company Reliance is collaborating with Alphabet Inc.'s Google to introduce a low-cost 5G smartphone.

In the meantime, Reuters claimed that the Indian government is trying to pressure Apple, Samsung, and other smartphone makers to prioritise releasing software updates to support 5G in the nation as many models are not prepared for the recently announced high-speed service.
