Indias 5G Smartphone Shipments To Exceed 4G Shipments In 2023

In 2023, 5G smartphone shipments in India will surpass India's 5G smartphone.

According to Counterpoint, the total number of 5G smartphone shipments will surpass 100 million in the second quarter of 2023 and surpass those of 4G by the end of the following year.

According to market research firm Counterpoint, India's 5G smartphone shipments will surpass those of 4G by the end of next year due to the widespread use of the high-speed network and the increase in sales of devices in the lower price bands.

Although macroeconomic problems and component supply issues are expected to cause India's overall smartphone shipments to drop this year, Counterpoint predicted that 5G will continue to drive smartphone demand in 2023.

According to predictions, India's 5G network will offer data speeds that are roughly 10 times quicker than those of 4G, making it essential for new technologies like artificial intelligence and self-driving cars.

According to Counterpoint, the market share of 5G handsets in the lower price range (less than 20,000 rupees, or $241.55) is predicted to increase to 30% in 2023 from 4% in 2018.

Following its $19 billion 5G spectrum auction victory in August, India's leading telecom company Reliance is collaborating with Alphabet Inc.'s Google to introduce a low-cost 5G smartphone.

According to Counterpoint Research, total shipments of 5G smartphones will reach 100 million in the second quarter of 2023 and surpass those of 4G smartphones by the end of the following year.

By the end of 2023, the analytical company projects that obstacles including inflation, geopolitical unrest, a lack of 5G network availability, and component supply bottlenecks would have mostly disappeared.

In the meantime, Reuters claimed that the Indian government is trying to pressure Apple, Samsung, and other smartphone makers to prioritise releasing software updates to support 5G in the nation as many models are not prepared for the recently announced high-speed service.
