13 Famous Predictions By Nostradamus

In 1555, Nostradamus published his first collection of quatrains, four-line prophecies, and books are still being published today.

Here are a few of the man's more intriguing calls as well as a few prophecies that believers have attempted to match to events, but may have failed to do so.

Death of Henry II

Prediction:

"The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death."

What happened :

What took place: In the summer of 1559, on the fields of France, King Henry II of France (the older one) lined up to duel the Comte de Montgomery (the young lion), who was six years his junior (the field of combat).

Both shields had lions.

Montgomery's lance angled up and pierced the king's visor during their final pass, shattering it into pieces.

Two shards penetrated the king's head, one through the temple and one through the eye (piercing his eyes through a gilded cage) (two wounds made one).

Henry died in his bed after enduring suffering for 10 days (and then dying a horrible death).

The Great Fire of London

Prediction:

"The blood of the just will be demanded of London
Burnt by fire in the year '66
The ancient Lady will fall from her high place
And many of the same sect will be killed."

What happened :

On September 2, 1666 (in the year '66), a minor fire that started in Thomas Farriner's bakery on Pudding Lane in London grew into a three-day firestorm that destroyed the city.

The killing of millions of flea-carrying rats is one justification for the blood of the just.

Although peasant deaths were not initially documented, it has long been believed that six individuals died in the fire.

French Revolution

Prediction:

"From the enslaved populace, songs,
Chants and demands
While princes and lords are held captive in prisons.
These will in the future by headless idiots
Be received as divine prayers."

What happened :

The French revolted in 1789 after deciding they had had enough of the oppressive aristocratic rule.

The enslaved people gained control of Paris and imposed their demands on the aristocracy.

The princes and lords of the aristocracy were removed from their positions of authority, imprisoned in the Bastille, and executed by guillotine (headless idiots).

Napoleon

Prediction:

"PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood,
To swim in praise, the great one to flee to the confluence.
He will refuse entry to the Piuses,
The depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned. "

What happened:

(PAU, NAY, LORON) Pau, Nay, and Oloron are three southern French cities.

The capitalization suggests that there is a hidden meaning and that you should continue reading.

When rearranged, they form the French phrase NAPAULON ROY, or Napoleon the King.

"Refuse admittance to the Piuses" refers to Popes Pius VI and VII, both of whom Napoleon imprisoned. The phrases "more of fire than blood" and "refuse entry to the Piuses" refer to Napoleon's non-noble ancestry.

Louis Pasteur

Prediction:

"The lost thing is discovered, hidden for many centuries.
Pasteur will be celebrated almost as a God-like figure.
This is when the moon completes her great cycle,
But by other rumors he shall be dishonored."

What happened:

Louis Pasteur is credited with discovering microbial decomposition (Pasteur will be honoured) (a lost thing is discovered after being hidden for many centuries).

Science historian Gerald L. Geison revealed in a 1995 article in the New York Times that Pasteur offered a fraudulent narrative of how he created the anthrax vaccine (will he be dishonoured)?

Hitler

Prediction:

"From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East."

Also ...

"Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing."

What happened:

Hitler was born on April 20, 1889, to extremely underprivileged parents in Western Europe.

Hitler's flamboyant oratory abilities helped Germany mobilise in the years after World War I.

(His fame will spread to the Eastern realm.) It is thought that the partnership between the Axis and Japan in the East Hitler is a typo.

The "larger battlefield" is the defeat of Hitler by the Allies, when the German Army is approaching France (hungry monsters will cross the rivers).

Charles De Gaulle

Prediction:

"Hercules King of Rome and of Annemark,
Three times one surnamed de Gaulle will lead,
Italy and the one of St Mark to tremble,
First monarch, renowned above all."

What happened :

Three different French presidents have been Charles de Gaulle (de Gaulle).

First serving as the head of the Free French Forces, then serving as the interim prime minister of the post-World War II administration, and eventually serving as the country's first president of the French Fifth Republic.

The Atomic Bomb

Prediction:

"Near the gates and within two cities
There will be scourges the like of which was never seen,
Famine within plague, people put out by steel,
Crying to the great immortal God for relief."

What happened :

Early in August 1945, the US launched two atomic bombs on the Japanese islands of Hiroshima and Nagasaki (within two cities).

Radiation sickness suffered by those who avoided the immediate detonation and the misery of those trapped in the blast (crying for relief to the great immortal God)

JFK and RFK Assassinations

Prediction:

"The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt,
An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition.
According to the prediction, another falls at night time.
Conflict at Reims, London and a pestilence in Tuscany."

What happened :

John F. Kennedy received multiple threats against his life (in a petition), and on the afternoon of November 22, 1963, he was shot and killed.

On June 5, 1968, Bobby Kennedy was assassinated shortly after midnight (another death at night). The entire globe wept (Conflict at Reims, London).

DEBUNKED: The Challenger explosion

Prediction:

"From the human flock nine will be sent away,
Separated from judgment and counsel:
Their fate will be sealed on departure
Kappa, Thita, Lambda the banished dead err."

What happened :

All the crew on the Space Shuttle Challenger perished on January 28, 1986, when it disintegrated 73 seconds after liftoff.

The defective O-ring produced by Thiokol was to blame for the disaster, and believers tried to arrange the letters from Kappa, Thita, and Lamda to match the company's name.

Additionally, they disregard the fact that the accident kills seven rather than nine persons (the other nine will be sent away).

DEBUNKED: The death of Princess Diana

Prediction:

"God the Last but First the nickname of Nostradamus of the 90's
Takes the Goddess of the Moon for his Day & Movement
A frantic wanderer and witness of Gods Law
In awakening the worlds great regions to Gods will."

DEBUNKED: The death of John F. Kennedy Jr.

Prediction:

"The year 1999 seven months
From the sky will come the great King of Terror.
To resuscitate the great king of the Mongols. Before and after Mars reigns by good luck."

What happened :

John F. Kennedy Jr. was flying his plane off the coast of Massachusetts on July 16, 1999 (seven months later), while carrying his wife Carolyn Bessette and her sister.

All those on board were killed when the plane crashed as a result of pilot mistake.

Sept. 11, 2001

Prediction:

"Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
Then Arethusa will redden a new river."

What happened :

The World Trade Center's two towers (two enormous rocks) were attacked in New York City early on September 11, 2001. (New City).
