Shakib Al Hasan, an all-rounder from Bangladesh, was the Kolkata Knight Riders' most expensive acquisition at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore.
The lowest of the 10 teams, Kolkata Knight Riders entered the mini IPL auction on Friday with a remaining purse of $7.05. In the Kochi auction, the side purchased players including Shakib Al Hasan and Mandeep Singh. The Bangladesh all-rounder was their most expensive acquisition, costing Rs 1.5 crore, while right-handed batter Mandeep cost Rs 50 lakh, the same price that KKR paid to acquire Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das.
KKR also paid a big sum of 90 lakh for Narayan Jagadeesan, who has done well in the TNPL and recently owned the world record for the highest List A score (277). In fact, last year, KKR struggled with keepers and even had Baba Indrajith in that role. This time, Jagadeesan might just be a more stable component in their strategy.
The two-time IPL champions also paid Rs 1 crore for David Wiese, a Namibian all-rounder who was born in South Africa.
They have a remaining purse amount of Rs. 1.65 crore.
