The Oppenheimer Trailer Unveils Christopher Nolan’s Atomic Bomb Thriller

The trailer for Christopher Nolan's next film, "Oppenheimer," has been released by Universal Pictures.

"Oppenheimer" chronicles the life and ethically dubious achievements of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who is credited with developing the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer was a key contributor to the Manhattan Project, a federal research endeavour that focused on the development of nuclear weapons from 1942 to 1946, and he was the director of Los Alamos Laboratory, where the bombs were physically constructed.

Cillian Murphy plays Oppenheimer, marking his first main role in one of Nolan's films. Murphy has appeared in several of Nolan's films, including "Inception," "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight," "The Dark Knight Rises," and "Dunkirk."

"I'll always show up for Chris, no matter how small the role," Murphy previously told The Guardian. "Chris will call me, and I will be there."

The A-list cast includes Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock, Emily Blunt as Kitty Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss, Matt Damon as Leslie Groves Jr., Gary Oldman as Harry S. Truman, as well as Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, Josh Peck, Jason Clarke, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, James D’Arcy and many more.

The biographical book "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer" by Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin, which was awarded the 2006 Pulitzer Prize, served as the inspiration for the movie. Along with producers Charles Roven and Emma Thomas, Nolan will adapt the book for the screen and serve as the project's director and producer. Nolan's connection with Warner Bros. terminated following the release of "Tenet," and "Oppenheimer" is his first movie to be distributed independently since 2000's "Memento."

“Oppenheimer” premieres in theaters on July 21, 2023. Watch the trailer below.
