The new Yamaha MT-15 comes in a single model and four colour options: Cyan Storm (new), Racing Blue (new), Ice Fluo-Vermillion (Rs 1,64,400), and Metallic Black (Rs 1,63,400). For Rs 1,65,400, it is also available in the 2022 Monster Energy MotoGP colour scheme.
The Yamaha MT-15 is powered by a 155-cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 18.4 PS at 10,000 rpm and 14.1 Nm at 7500 rpm. While the displacement of the motor remains the same as on the previous model, power and torque ratings are decreased by 0.1 PS and 0.2 Nm, respectively. Yamaha may have detuned the engine to enhance fuel economy. Engine outputs are reduced when compared to the BS4 variant - 0.7 PS and 0.6 Nm, to be exact. It has the same deltabox frame as the previous model, as well as a USD fork and monoshock suspension arrangement. The braking system is same, having discs at both ends. However, the MT-15's rear swingarm is now made of cast aluminium, and it features a USD fork like the R15 V4. The absence of dual-channel ABS is a significant omission on the 2022 MT-15.
In terms of design, the MT-15 is aesthetically identical to its predecessor. It keeps its sporty and modern looks, but we expected Yamaha designers to give it a drastic makeover, as they did with the new R15 V4.
LED DRLs, an LED projector headlamp, and an LED taillight are standard on the Yamaha MT-15 Version 2.0. It boasts a revamped completely digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connection for calls, SMS, and email notifications. However, the streetfighter is unable to navigate. Unlike the Yamaha R15 V4, the new bike does not include, even as an option, a quickshifter or traction control system. Furthermore, it retains a single-channel ABS as standard, with no indication of a dual-channel variation. Mechanically, the new MT-15 retains Variable Valve Actuation. The technique enables the 155cc engine to provide peak engine performance at higher rpm without compensating for a loss of low-to-mid-range grunt.
